Your business can return WEEE free of charge to the manufacturer of the equipment if it was sold to you new after 13 August 2005. Check the product label for a crossed-out wheelie bin symbol, If your product has this symbol it was produced after 13 August 2005 and disposal is the responsibility of the original producer/manufacturer of the equipment. |
When buying new electronic or electrical equipment make sure that you record the producer registration number. This will allow you to contact the producer when you need to dispose of the equipment. |
For older equipment without the crossed out wheelie bin if you are purchasing like for like equipment then the provider of the replacement product has a duty to accept the old product if requested. |
WEEE supplied under a rental or lease agreement can be returned to the supplier free of charge. |
Most manufacturers fulfill their obligations through compliance take back schemes your supplier should be able to provide you with the relevant contact information. |
If the producer of your electronic equipment refuses to take responsibility for your waste, you should contact your environmental regulator. |
